The born Team's Analysis

The born Job Advertising Index took a 3 point dip in June, down to 91 points from 94 points in May. The decline was consistent with the expectation that the worsening economic climate has started to make a real impact on the online recruitment sector.

Just over 55% of the job boards tracked by the index experienced a decline in online job advertising volumes. Geographically there was a considerable decline in advertising in Scotland.

The drop in advertising levels comes at a time when both economic factors and seasonal trends are coming into force at the same time. The deflated economic climate and summer slowdown are both believe to be impacting on advertising levels.

In addition the advertising volumes in the accounting and finance sectors have remain in decline, despite an anticipated increase expected due to the academic calendar.
