The born Team's Analysis

The born Job Advertising Index dipped steeply in December, dropping a dramatic 6 points, down to 66 points.

The rapid decline underlines just how difficult the recruitment space is becoming in the light of the challenging trading conditions.

Job boards are clearly struggling with inventory levels, with even the leading boards showing year-on-year declines in advertising.

The born index now sits at just 66 points, far below the figure of 100 that it started at in June 2007. At this time we are not expecting to see the index recover to the base line level during 2009.
